Ioann Maria to Tikul Noir : fb 27/03/2012 ::

/ I’ve had a dream I was back in the 1980, my mother wrote a script for one scene of new David Lynch’s movie, we were watching it: in the middle of the desert the headless princesses dressed in kimonos have been playing a ritual dance with cut off and set on fire humans’ arms, once the arms burnt out into ashes, one princess after another was leaving the dance scene walking away through the wall as a ghost. The scene was called “Fire-wind walking”. Tikul Noir told me then that it was the first time in the history of cinematography that no special effects have been used and actors got an ability to walk through objects, as if now it was a regular thing to happen. /

/ sean+nigel+jonn.  a few years ago blastfirstpetite asked us to do a suicide cover. Sean decided on ‘sweetheart’. He worked out an approach, we got together in london, dropped a little 2cb, and did it in one take.  It’s out now on a very limited 12” /

/ The performing body privileges the notion of affective force over the notion of visual form, and Elena del R o places this at the center of theories of spectacle and performativity. Drawing on Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy of the body, and on Deleuze-Spinoza’s relevant concepts of affect and expression, del R o defines “affective-performative” cinema, the features of which unfold through detailed discussions of the movements, gestures, and speeds of the body in a variety of films by Douglas Sirk, Rainer W. Fassbinder, Sally Potter, Claire Denis, and David Lynch. She grounds her analysis in the body’s powers of affection, proving the insufficiency of former theoretical approaches in accounting for the transformative and creative capacities of the moving body. Deleuze and the Cinemas of Performance will interest scholars and students working with Deleuze, phenomenology, and feminism. /
