shoot at / teufelsberg .. // berlin..

myself and Andrzej have been invited to Sweden to produce live visuals at the 20th anniversary of the biggest Swedish feminist magazine – BANG* for sound artist Oni Ayhun… [http://www.oniayhun.com/] whos work i really admire

we’ve met Oni on previous festivals and in Berlin .. after the greatest av brainstorm and discussing some ideas.. we could prepare some footage together while we were in berlin… it is very pleasant experience to work with people who have similar state of mind and vision of the world.. similar taste.. and great connection and common vibe… was supercool to colaborate*

the whole event took place at SÖDRA theatre.. [Kägelbanan bar]* the greatest cutest people.. everyone was very happy with our set.. im glad of the huge positive feedback we’ve got* and amazed by people who hosted us…

the footage ::

all the visual footage was exclusively produced for the artist and inspired by his music .. full concept*   +++ for this set we decided to record material which will be as open as possible to many ways of interpretation… [abstract shapes and forms / organic and synthetic as the music is] material which will refer somehow to queer culture / utopian / distopian imagery / monochromatic playground – light / dark ..gender / humanity / surrealistic creatures..  tried to involve the body without necesseary signs to whom this body belongs to.. trying to break the shape of the body… at the same time expressing in a minimalist clean style…

to produce the right imagery, we decided to collaborate with our friend – Nicole Vivien Watson who is a great contemporary dancer / choreaographer … [Surface Area Dance Theatre]  we’ve experiment with plain zentai light grey suit [which is covering the body completely] and than tried to project on the body …which gave an amazing effect..  the images we were projecting on the body were just colorful or b/w animations from max/msp…

i was very happy with our collaborative input and the outcome of this collective experiment

also there was an idea when me and nicole had a chat together about sign language which she is mastering.. [she got 1st level of british sign language communication]

and i thought it will be brilliant to use it in the footage..

experiments with projections on the zentai suit [ dancers body was multiplied or mirrored in post-production no other effects add ] we tried black and white projections and also the colourful ones [ projected images - animations made in max/msp ]

another part of footage was filmed in berlin together with Oni :D after we came up with some ideas.. i made quiclky very spontaneous ‘costume’ / collar from huge black bin bags and balloons.. it worked very good in front of the camera.. it was a great adventure ::

again [like previously for darkstar set] we used also simple self-build arduino controller to adjust the effects in Max/Msp and control the intensity of the distortion / speed / other effects with the potentiometers..
