Rock Art and the Stars

A’s story

One day, A sit beside the ancient rock art and begin to practice meditation. Some music came from his cellphone which lies on the ground. On the screen, the abstract motifs become instruments, the program found the online the stars’ routines in the past 7 days, when these stars flow across the lines in the abstract motifs, it would produce a melodious ringing – the ringing would also changed based on the different light level of the star. When one days passed, there would also be a signal. Some times, A would also set some special sound for his favorite planet. He listened “sun rise and sunset”, felt the speed of the time fly, imagine the ancestors of human may be staring at the sky at the same time but 10000 years ago, and suddenly get something truth of the life.

(These papers was stolen from James’ blue notebook)

Plus: The extension maybe a little dangerous because it related to the religion.

In Buddhism, there is one method to cultivate monks, which is imagine a motif (I forgot which one) in their brain. Similarly, this program could use a 3D sound system to let the listener heard where the stars came from and where would they went, then imagine the motif in the fluent of stars and hit the motif then produce sounds.

B’s Story

B loves astrology, he select one of the rock arts the represent his life stone( base on the motifs on the rocks ), use his cellphone to forecast his fortune recently by the different star would run right on the top of the rock, e.g. the star represents the good luck for the people belongs to the Taurus would be right on the top of the rock on Sunday 18:31, but B should also be polite to other people because the god of this star likes polite people. On the other day, it important to do some meditation because it’s necessary to strengthen the link between B and the rock, etc.

Summary:

So the system in story B is similar to Google’s Sky Map, to record the routine of Stars, but our system focus more about the stars right on the rock and need some simple rules came from astrology. The idea “select rock” is similar to Tarot Card (I’m not familiar about that~). System in story A use the same base as B, but focus on the feeling “time fly” – record several days the stars pass by the rock and broadcast in 10 minutes. Alessandro and Ben Freeth told me there also some guys using the location of the star or astronomy, so I believe the ringing of the star hit the motif wouldn’t be noises~ ha ha!

Besides, Adrian’s idea about the GD3D is very interesting. The motifs are similar to the coordinate in Augment Reality and combined with GD3D, we could drawn something in the virtual space but displayed in the cellphone when we focus it.

Media in Public 1. Assignment

Do you know what year the house you live in was built? How would you find out? Are you interested? Why/why not?

Ur… I still have no idea about this quesiton. Maybe it could be find from some document belongs to the landlord or estate company. If there is a stone or metal plate hanged on somewhere carved the date, it would be romantic. I’m really interested, but actually not the question like “how long”, but what’s the story of the people used to live here or what would be looks like if the people lived here looks outside the window? What the song used to be played in this room?

Do you know your own family history? How would you find out? Are you interested? Why/why not?

Yeah, mostly came from my mom, album and a book especially record this history of my family and ancestor. Every year’s big family party could also be an important source, the elder member of my family suffered lots in their early time. First, family member’s history is an key which affect the character seriously, it means the way they love you is closely related to that and we want to realize each other. Second, generally, from the history of a family, you could clearly feel the power of the blood, and the word “time changes”.

Do you use any technologies which investigate history? Which ones and how do you use them?

I used to use a Microsoft’s Student education software which allows you to enter the 3D world of some famous interests like pyramid or Greek temple, Japanese castle. IBM also publish a virtual space like second life and build all the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, really great, but actually I don’t like that dynasty.
