When I was researching the post-truth and trying to find some ideas to inspire myself, I found a video on YouTube which called “The Truth About Modern Art”. It said some of modern arts are rubbish, thay are trying to make themselves look sophisticated by describing meaning to something completely meaningless. And the public are more likely to try to understand the meaningless art’s meaning, which is sad.
The picture above is a piece of modern art in LACMA, which is just a huge rock, but it cost 10 million dollars. Compared with Michelangelo’s sculptures it took considerablely less time and skill.
So, inspired by this video, I am trying to make my work:
- more realistic, to let the audience understand the meaning of it easily.
- to avoid being pretentious or craftless.
