Introduction
————
In this session we covered basic project planning, planned for next week’s presentations, completed an exercise in narrative development and joined the ‘lunch bites’ for a presentation by Adinda van ‘t Klooster, a practicing artist/academic working with technology.
Project Planning
—————-
We spent some time as a group brainstorming the important stages for project development and discussed the common stages in project development (in no particular order):
1. Planning
2. Research
3. Equipment requisition
4. Training
5. Implementation
6. Testing/rehersal
7. Meetings/comms
8. Contingency
Stevie presented the GANNT chart as one possible way of mapping out project tasks. For further info see:

http://www.vertex42.com/ExcelTemplates/excel-gantt-chart.html claims to have a template but Stevie hasn’t tried it out yet!

Narrative Development
———————–
Last week we defined Narrative as: A series of connected events; a story. Stevie introduced a means of developing narratives using images as stimuli.
Four images, each of them tagged with “regeneration” on flickr were presented in a slide show. Students had to write a narrative that included elements from/responded to at least one of the images.
Students then condensed these narratives down to a one or two sentence summary - a technique which will be of use when thinking how to present their project ideas in a condensed manner. We discussed these short summaries as a group.
Lunch Bites
————
For the second half of the session we joined Adinda van ‘t Klooster’s lunch bites session for an informative presentation on her research and practice.
